8 Challenges you will face in Art in Island at Cubao, Quezon City

We visited Art in Island last December 30, 2014 and this is already one of my favorite places here in Metro Manila even if it recently opened last December 25, 2014. It’s actually a museum, but not like your usual museum, it features 3D art where you are allowed to touch it, feel it and many times you can do crazy poses with the art. Interaction and picture taking is a must.

It was challenging too, as there were around 200 persons inside when we visited according to their staff.

The art is colorful and the size of it is amazing but what I really like about Art in Island is that I had to force myself to be creative.

Here are challenges that you might encounter on your visit to Art in Island.

#1. The Challenge of Not Getting Cold Feet

This is actually the very first challenge that you would encounter in Art in Island because you’re not allowed to have slippers and shoes inside. Good thing for me that I had socks on, but my friends were walking barefoot inside and they told me that the floor was cold.

No shoes and no slipper allowed.

The reason for this is that you would not ruin the art as the art starts from the floor up to the walls.

#2. The Challenge of Getting the Right Angle

I’ve selected my pose on the art, now the problem is getting the right angle for the photo. If you do not get the right angle, the photo will look like a weird, physics-defying picture.

Photo Point

I just wished they were bigger though as I had a hard time looking for these on most of the paintings. And there are times when other people would conveniently just stand over them while waiting for friends to finish taking photos.

#3. The Challenge of Posing

Each art has a concept. Though you could just stand there and take a picture of yourself with the art, the best way to enjoy the art is to let your creativity explode and do a pose that looks like you were part of the part.

#4. The Challenge of The Right Footing

There’s a lot of murals in Art in Island where you will look like there is a hole on the ground. You must really look into where you will be putting your foot, unless you would like to look like you are floating in air.

#5. The Challenge of Being Unique

There’s a lot of art and most likely almost everyone would be doing the same pose. You have to think of your own way of being not the same as others. On my part what I thought about are jump shots.

#6. The Challenge of Being Small

I’m 5 feet and 11 inches, one of my biggest challenge is becoming small. But in Art in Island they have art where I can be small even for a brief moment in time.

#7. The Challenge of Interacting with Other Self

There are rooms where you don’t only get to interact with just painting but also structures, just like the photos in Challenge #6. One room let’s you act like you’re in a mirror with a different reflection.

#8. The Challenge of Not Being Inside Other Peoples Photo

The murals in Art in Island are somewhat squeezed together in a tight space that many times a photo point is actually in the way of other murals. Many times we’ve had other people get inside our photos. And I think we’ve also done the same for others.

The secret to this is to let other people know that you are going to take a photo and a lot of patience.

The other secret to this is that you should also respect others. Don’t take photos for too long and give chance to others.

All in all, among the 3 places that we’ve visited that day (The Mind Museum and Bonifacio High Street) Art in Island is definitely my favorite.

My friends really enjoyed Art in Island that they were pulling me to take photos of them on different murals in a single time and I had to tell them to wait for me to finish taking a photo of the other person.

Here’s a secret. At the end of all the fun and art works there’s FREE FOOD in their spacious resting and dining area. It’s just a bottle of water and some bread or biscuits, but it’s better than nothing.
